CIBBAP System

SCIT’s interest in this subject arises from the ‘CIBBAP system’ introduced briefly in France some years ago. ‘CIBBAP’ was an original system based on cassettes (structural liner trays) and was used for both one family houses (three or four alternatives) and a number of low-rise prestige buildings designed by top architects. In purely technical terms, the system was a success, high client satisfaction, there were no difficulties encountered during construction and the buildings performed well in service, even surviving extreme storms. However, apparently, from the standpoint of the company concerned, the project was not an economic success and the project was suspended.

SCIT is aware of this project and considers that it is well worthy of further development with the emphasis on a modular system with a range of designs of small to medium one family houses suitable for mass production and rapid erection as a contribution to the UK’s chronic shortage of municipal housing. The buildings will be designed with an expected life in excess of 25 years and the construction material is 10% recyclable.

SCIT is not ready to provide further details at this stage but will be happy to talk to anyone interested in contributing to the further development of this concept.
